The Las Vegas Strip is the name by which a stretch of land having an area of about 4.2-milestretch over the Las Vegas Boulevard South in Clark County, Nevada is famously known as.
There are various big and famous hotels, casinos including retro casinos and resorts etc are present on this famous Las Vegas Strip. An interesting fact about this Las Vegas Strip is that a many of the world largest in terms of room count are situated in this famous Strip itself. Marking the starting of Las Vegas strip was the El Rancho Vegas Hotel-Casino in 1941. IT was built opposite to where now is the famous Sahara Hotel. This led to the start of Las Vegas strip we know it today. There became a building boom in Las Vegas after the Las Vegas strip beginning however, things did experience slow down considerably during the Second World War.
During the second half of the 1940’s, the building boom returned and what can be termed as the second phase of starting of Las Vegas strip started with many hotels and casinos building being built up along the highway that leading from Vegas to Los Angles. Then came the Flamingo Hotel which was developed by a mobster named as Bugsy Siegel in 1946. the Florida resort hotel style of the famous Flamingo got very popular and it emerged as a standard for the future developments of hotels, casinos and resorts buildings on the Las Vegas strip.
Then a fire incident broke out in 1960 at the El Rancho Vegas casino and it was razed down in this fire. During this time, there were so many other first-generation resorts and retro casinos which had witnessed the starting of the Las Vegas strip also lost their identity due to reasons such as take over by new owners, demolition, renovation and changes in names.
Over the years after the starting of the Las Vegas strip, there came numerous numbers of hotels as well as casino building on this strip and casino gambling also has gone high tech. Taking a stroll down memory lane we find that how Las Vegas strip has turned out to be one of the most happening and colorful place today.
