The Las Vegas strip today is the world famous Las Vegas Strip is actually a piece of land which is spread around an area of 6.8 km along the Las Vegas Boulevard South in Clark County in the American state of Nevada. The area covered by the present day Las Vegas strip falls in the unorganized area of Paradise and Winchester. Major portion of the Las Vegas strip now has been indicated as an All-American Road.
Las Vegas strip today is the home to the large number of big hotels, resort properties and casinos of all kinds including the retro casinos in Las Vegas as they are present on this famous Las Vegas strip area. Just to mention here an interesting figure related to the Las Vegas strip at present is that approximately nineteen of the world's twenty five biggest hotels in terms of number of rooms are there on the strip making it a total of over 67,000 rooms there in the area. One of the nineteen largest hotels in the world which are there on present day Las Vegas strip, the Las Vegas Hilton, is an exception and is situated off the strip, however, this property of the Las Vegas Hilton is situated quite near to the Las Vegas strip today around less than 0.5 miles in the east of the strip.
Among the most noticeable aspects of Las Vegas strip now is the view of the cityscape and the dramatic architecture. With the due course of time, the present day Las Vegas strip has come a long way and undergone changes in terms of modernization of hotels, casinos, restaurants, and residential high-rises on the Strip has established the city as one of the most popular destinations for tourists.
Many of the old hotels, resorts and casino properties have either been demolished to make way for new swanky malls and other modern buildings. The only hotel belonging to the Las Vegas strip of the older times and still able to survive is the Flamingo hotel. A new addition to the Las Vegas strip today and the only movie theatre directly on the Strip is the 10-screen Regal Showcase Theatre in the Showcase Mall next to the MGM Grand. It was launched in the year 1997 and is being run by the Regal Entertainment Group.
